Overarching goal
PI-BREAK project will develop and validate an intelligent system for breakwater predictive maintenance that aims to the following main goals:Â
To reduce ultimate and serviceability failure risks for the breakwater structure and protected assets.
To allow building breakwater resilience and life span.
To enhance infrastructure operational capacity.
To support automated decision-making.
The proposed system will integrate novel monitoring and advanced coupled (numerical) models within an intelligent platform that simultaneously considers breakwater service and ultimate failure modes.
The PI-BREAK methodology will foster proactive maintenance based on hybrid modelling tools that aggregate field data, lab tests at complementary scales and numerical (nested) simulations to generate an ensemble of predictions supporting automated decisions.
